Commissions

Each installation is one of a kind

Regardless of whether an existing image or an existing structure design is used, each installation is engineered to the unique requirements and specifications of the commission.

As with any custom sculptural work, the process varies. However, to give potential clients an idea of the basic process, here’s how the studio works:

Step One: Client Meeting

Overall intention:
Discuss the purpose of the sculpture, what it is meant to express, what response it might evoke in viewers.

Examples:
Create large scale drama in commercial buildings.
Focal point for landscape architectural design.
Evoke meditative, fine art aesthetic in residential homes. Elevate interior design to new level.
Maximize unique branding of restaurant, lounge, hotel.
Use art to communicate core values in non-profit, corporate setting.

Application of sculpture/structure:
Discuss indoor/outdoor use, site requirements, environmental considerations, foundation support, lighting/electrical.

Logistics:
Review installation logistics, especially site-specific considerations regarding access, privacy, security for installation, equipment, P. L. Studio contractors. Review electrical availability, delivery and installation details.

Artwork:
Intention and direction. Tone. Existing vs. custom.

Step Two: Design & Engineering

Artwork designed. Structure designed. Site-specific considerations addressed (pre-construction, site assembly, site-specific materials, site-specific design needs).

Present to client for approval.

Step Three: Production.

Pre-assembly. Delivery and site installation logistics confirmed.

Step Four: Installation.
